Singer-songwriter Greg Mendez has shared another sparse yet captivating track from his upcoming studio album, which arrives next month. A lo-fi indie pop gem, “No Evil” finds the Pennsylvania native sifting through memories and analyzing relationships, told through soft streams of lyrics that mirror rapid-fire streams of consciousness.
“A lot of the time, I feel locked inside my own head, or maybe it’s inside all these screens. I’m not sure if I can tell the difference anymore,” Mendez shares in a statement. “This song isn’t about that, at least not in the ‘about’ sense. It’s not trying to explain or show that in particular; it’s more coincidental. Like how a landscape painting can show the sky without being ‘about’ the sky. It can just happen to be there.”
“Every time I share a bed with you, I remember all the worst things we went through / Suppose that’s why I’m alone,” he reflects gently. “Maybe you’ll give me more ‘til I’m dancing and I’m crying / Maybe you’ll give me more ‘til I’m dancing and I’m crying / Until I can’t see no evil.”

ALBUM OUT MAY 29 VIA DEAD OCEANS
“No Evil” is the third and final single from Mendez’s upcoming studio album, Beauty Land, due out on May 29 via Dead Oceans. Crafted almost entirely in his home studio in Philadelphia, Mendez recorded the 13-track LP directly to tape, adding an extra layer of intimacy to the project’s raw, organic soundscapes.
This summer, Mendez will hit the road in support of Beauty Land, embarking on an extensive North American tour. Tickets for all dates listed below are on sale now. You can find more information about the shows and explore ticketing options by visiting Greg Mendez’s official website.
