With their new single “Bright Lights,” released today (Aug. 9), The Killers tip their hat to the city that started it all. Frontman Brandon Flowers, guitarist Dave Keuning, bassist Mark Stoermer, and drummer Ronnie Vannucci Jr deliver an energizing anthem true to the band’s trademark polished rock sound.
“Will you turn the bright lights on? / Baby, turn the bright lights on,” Flowers asks passionately in the track’s blazing chorus. “‘Cause I haven’t forgotten where it is I’m from / Look out your window for me / Here I come.”
The track serves as a fitting leadup to The Killers’ upcoming residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, which begins on Aug. 14. The 10-show stint, which is completely sold out, celebrates the 20th anniversary of the band’s hit debut album, Hot Fuss.
Although details of the residency have been mostly kept under wraps, the music video for “Bright Lights” leans into the imagery of vintage Vegas live shows, invoking a style that has been a longtime staple of The Killers’ stage design and branding.
