Steve Earle Plots ‘Fifty Years of Songs and Stories’ Acoustic Tour

Celebrated singer-songwriter Steve Earle will share experiences and music from his decades-long career during a series of special headlining shows this year. His solo acoustic Fifty Years of Songs and Stories tour will take the award-winning lyricist and musician to more than 50 cities across the U.S. and Canada.

The expansive roster of live dates begins on May 25 in Decatur, Alabama, and stretches through the end of August. Earle’s newly announced tour includes performances in Chicago, Dallas, Omaha, Houston, Buffalo, and Calgary, coming to a close with a set at the Rhythm and Roots Festival on Aug. 31.

“Awhile back I was interviewing John Hiatt on my radio show and we realized that we had known each other for fifty years,” Earle shares, reflecting on the inspiration behind his upcoming tour. “I met John in 1975, my first full year in Nashville and it occurred to me that the oldest songs that I still play (there are 3) were written that year. Now, I live to follow creative rabbits down holes and I’m old enough, now, that the idea of legacy comes up now and then, so, I decided that a more or less chronological live songbook might make for an interesting evening of music.”
