You may have already been introduced to the vocal talents of Sydney Quiseng as the frontwoman of indie-pop trio Echosmith, whose track “Cool Kids” became one of the biggest hits of 2013. With her emotional new track “When a Good Thing Ends,” the captivating singer-songwriter continues to carve her own path as a solo artist, while planting her feet firmly in the Americana realm.

Quiseng, a California native now based in Nashville, reflects on the difficulty of trying to heal a broken heart while life seems to be flying by, while the past still chains you down.

“The world keeps spinning / And you’re still in it / You just get dizzy / The clock, it won’t stop ticking / The world’s not ending / It just feels like it is / But that’s what happens when / When a good thing ends / When a good thing ends.”

“‘When a Good Thing Ends’ captures the heartache of watching something slip away, even when you see it coming,” Quiseng shares of the track. “It’s that dizzy feeling of moving forward when your heart’s left behind. It’s a song for anyone learning to let go.”

The release of “When a Good Thing Ends” follows her previous single, “Coffee Shop in Kyoto,” which dropped in November. It’s still unclear if these new tracks indicate an upcoming full-length project, which would be Quiseng’s first multi-track release since dropping her first solo EP, Phases, in June 2025. Either way, we’ll be eagerly keeping our eyes peeled for more fresh music from the 28-year-old talent in the months ahead.

On Jan. 19, she’ll be joined by her Echosmith bandmates for an intimate one-night-only hometown concert event and baby shower at The Mint in Los Angeles. Attendees will hear live performances of fan favorites from Echosmith, solo tracks from Quiseng, and maybe even a few special surprises. Tickets for the show, including VIP and meet-and-greet packages, are now available for purchase.
