The Wombats Confirm ‘A Guide to Love, Loss & Desperation’ 20th Anniversary Tour

It’s hard to believe that two decades have passed since The Wombats dropped their breakout debut record, A Guide to Love, Loss & Desperation. The Liverpool-based band’s punchy, playful album first won the hearts of hipster Millennials like me through its solid track list, including singles “Let’s Dance to Joy Division,” “Kill the Director,” and “Moving to New York.” Next year, The Wombats will follow in the footsteps of fellow artists of that era by hitting the road to revisit some of their most impactful past releases.

Today (Oct. 19), band members Matthew ‘Murph’ Murphy, Tord Øverland Knudsen, and Dan Haggis revealed a slate of North American tour dates celebrating the 20th anniversary of A Guide to Love, Loss & Desperation’s release. They’ll head to 12 cities across the U.S. and Canada, starting in Toronto, Ontario, on April 26, and continuing on to Boston, Brooklyn, Washington, D.C., Chicago, Minneapolis, Austin, Denver, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Vancouver, before wrapping things up with one last performance in Seattle on May 19.

“When we realized our debut album was turning 20 in 2027, we decided it was only fair to throw a bit of a party to celebrate,” band member Dan Haggis shared in a statement.

Fellow indie rockers The Lathums will open all North American dates on the tour listed below, which runs across Europe and the U.K. throughout April. You can snag tickets for these special shows during a limited presale on Oct. 21 at 10 a.m. local time, ahead of a general on-sale on Friday, Oct. 23, also at 10 a.m. local time.
