Singer-songwriter Sam Beam, aka Iron & Wine, joined forces with folk supergroup I’m With Her for his latest track, “Robin’s Egg.” The song, anchored by the heavenly harmonies of Aoife O’Donovan, Sarah Jarosz, and Sara Watkins, arrives just weeks before the start of the two act’s North American co-headlining tour.
“Robin’s Egg” is a stompy, psychedelic-tinged gem with a layered yet airy soundscape that lets the four talents’ vocals soar to the forefront.
“Easy dreaming ain’t so harmless / Some go to your head,” they proclaim in the groovy but lyrically bittersweet tune. “You got blue and loosey-goosey / I went robin’s egg.”
“I had the start of ‘Robin’s Egg’ kicking around and began finishing the tune earlier this year with I’m With Her in mind,” Beam shares. “We had already started to plan our summer tour together; I passed it to them with the hope they were up for adding their voices to it, and lucky for me, they were! I’m looking forward to performing it, and a few other surprises, with them this summer.”
I’m With Her released their captivating second album, Wild and Clear and Blue, last month, which serves as the trio’s long-awaited followup to their 2018 debut LP, See You Around. They’ll join Iron & Wine for the kickoff of their joint tour on July 10 in Interlochen, Michigan, with dates scheduled through the end of July. Tickets for all co-headlining shows, which are listed below, are on sale now.
