It’s time to play the music, it’s time to light the lights: The Muppet Show is coming back to a screen near you next month. A new reboot of the beloved Jim Henson series is heading to Disney+ and ABC on Feb. 4, in celebration of the original’s 50th anniversary.
“Kermit, Miss Piggy, and the beloved Muppet gang are back with a brand-new special event,” an official synopsis of the project reads. “Music, comedy, and a whole lot of chaos are bound to ensue when The Muppets once again take the stage of the original Muppet Theatre with their very special guest, Sabrina Carpenter!”
Carpenter, who has become one of the biggest new pop stars in recent years with hits including “Espresso” and “Manchild,” appears in the project’s latest teaser trailer. In the clip, which you can see in full below, she’s seen showering Miss Piggy with compliments and trying to navigate the production’s predictable chaos found backstage. Her appearance tips a hat to the original series’ extensive list of celebrity special guests, which included Johnny Cash, Linda Ronstadt, Elton John, Gladys Knight, and Paul Simon.
Seth Rogen, accomplished actor and executive producer of The Muppet Show revival, also makes a guest appearance, seen gaining some thoughtful career advice from Fozzie Bear. Many of the longtime Muppet performers have reprised their roles in the film, including Dave Goelz, Bill Barretta, and Eric Jacobson, helping bring the franchise’s many familiar characters back to life on-screen.
The Muppet Show will be available to watch via broadcast on ABC and streaming via Disney+ on Feb. 4. If you’re itching to revisit the original series, which originally aired from 1976 to 1981, you can stream all five seasons of the show via Disney+ now.
