Talented singer-songwriters and longtime friends Nathaniel Rateliff and Gregory Alan Isakov have shared a captivating new collaboration that’s been years in the making. Released on Monday (February 24), “Flowers” is a reflective, stirring duet given new life by the multi-talented pair.

Although it was initially penned during the creative process of crafting Rateliff’s 2020 solo album, And It’s Still Alright, it took nearly five years for “Flowers” to find completion. During a moment of inspiration, Rateliff and Isakov recently revisited the tune, resulting in a sparse yet intimate soundscape that allows both talent’s vocals to take the spotlight.

“In the moment, because so much time had passed, it was hard to remember who had written what – our words becoming each other’s,” Rateliff shares in a statement. “Now, listening back, I remember lines Gregory offered and others I did, but it truly is a work of us together, as one.”

“My longtime friend Nathaniel Rateliff brought some pieces of a song by the farm a little while back and we finished it and tracked it late that night,” adds Isakov. “We ran around the studio tracking instruments and ideas thinking we might re-track it all later, but just loved how the first take came out. Hope you love it as much as we do.”

The release of “Flowers” comes as Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats continue their ongoing South of Here Tour, which features Isakov as support on multiple dates. You can find more information about the band’s arena tour, along with ticketing options, by visiting their official website.
