Singer-songwriter Langhorne Slim is gearing up to release a brand new album, produced by Greta Van Fleet bassist and keyboardist Sam F. Kiszka. The Dreamin’ Kind, set for release on Jan. 16 via Dualtone Records, features a soundscape that dives headfirst into the waters of modern rock and roll.
The Americana stalwart says the 12-track project serves as a longtime creative exploration into another beloved genre. Created over the span of a year during sporadic writing sessions at Kiszka’s home in Nashville, Langhorne Slim’s ninth studio album took shape. Thanks to an unrushed creative process and plenty of experimentation, he expanded upon his trademark sound for The Dreamin’ Kind, propelled in part by groovy drum fills provided by fellow Greta Van Fleet member Daniel Wagner.
“It felt like I was blowing some old shit up so I could plant some new flowers,” Slim shares of the creation of The Dreamin’ Kind. “I love acoustic music. I love folk music. But those aren’t my only loves. Rock & roll has always tickled the same place in my soul as great singer-songwriter music, and I wanted to explore those influences. Raw songs that make you feel something: that’s the stuff I’m after.”

Along with today’s (Oct. 8) album announcement, Langhorne Slim has shared two new tracks from The Dreamin’ Kind: “Rock N Roll” and “Haunted Man,” which you can hear below.
You can catch Langhorne Slim out on the road ahead of the record’s release through the end of the year, including a special album preview show at Skinny Dennis in Nashville on Nov. 13.
