Introspective singer-songwriter Liz Longley tries to revive a deep-rooted relationship in her new single “Start Again.” Released today (Nov. 21), the slow-grooving track was penned by Longley and Issac Fox with production by Grammy Award winner Paul Moak.
Anchored by Longley’s warm, entrancing vocals, “Start Again” finds the celebrated musician and storyteller determined to rekindle romance that once burned brighter. Described as a “sister song” to “Torture,” a track from her acclaimed 2020 album Funeral For My Past, her latest single offers another peek into a new chapter of life that helped inspire her new creative work
“I feel like my brain split in half when I became a mom,” shares Longley. “Your world gets smaller, and you’re overwhelmed by every little moment. I dealt with a lot of postpartum depression and anxiety, so there was a lot of relearning how to do things with a new human around. A lot of that journey is what fed into these songs.”
“Start Again” is the latest in a recent string of intriguing singles from Longley, following the October release of her uplifting track “Wake You Up.” While we await details on a possible new LP in the works, fans have multiple chances to catch Longley out on the road in the coming months. She’ll be performing a mix of older favorites and new tracks, making stops in select U.S. cities through the end of the year. After a brief pause for the holidays, Longley will embark on an extensive trek across the country this spring, which includes live shows in Austin, Seattle, Los Angeles, New York City and her adopted hometown of Nashville.
