Singer-songwriter Aldous Harding has new music ready to share. Today (March 3), she announced her fifth studio album, Train on the Island, will be released on May 8 via 4AD.
Although we only have a few details about the project right now, we do know the LP features 10 tracks crafted with longtime collaborator John Parish. The pair recruited an impressive roster of musicians for the record, which includes Joe Harvey-Whyte on pedal steel, Thomas Poli on synth, and Sebastian Rochford. Harding and her band returned to Rockfield Studios in Monmouth, Wales, where three of her previous records were captured, to bring Train on the Island to life.

Along with the album release news, Harding has also shared the album’s lead single, “One Stop.” The track is an unpredictable yet charming piece of self-reflection, allowing the listener to dive into the narrator’s rapid-fire train of thought.
“I rip myself on, I rip myself off / Imagining from the block, imagining,” she proclaims. “Why wouldn’t I wanna meet ya? Why wouldn’t I wanna? Oh, why wouldn’t I wanna meet ya?”
Fans across the U.S. and overseas will have many opportunities to hear tracks from Train on the Island live later this year. A full list of upcoming tour dates is available below. You can find additional information about the shows and find tickets by visiting Aldous Harding’s official website.
