Known as one of modern rock’s most intriguing jam bands, Goose is back with a brand new single from their upcoming fourth studio album, Everything Must Go. Released today (February 25), “Lead Up” is a trippy, melancholy-drenched cut dripping with an especially anxious type of nostalgia.

“The record is a collection — of songs, of characters, and of different places and times in our lives,” guitarist Rick Mitarotonda shares of the song in a statement. “It was a way for me to explore feelings that I didn’t really understand at the time. Sometimes as you get older it becomes valuable reflecting on things from that time in your life, and how pure and unadulterated expressions can be then.“

The questioning track, which grew into its final form from a song Mitarotonda penned as a young teen, builds into a haunting yet gripping crescendo.

“Often times we worry about the things we waste / Leading up to this and we tend to miss / Make it all so, take it all away,” he pleads in the track’s reflective, bittersweet chorus. “It seems there’s so much to this / I wish I could take it all away.”

Set for release on April 25 via No Coincidence Records, Everything Must Go serves as the band’s first new full-length LP in nearly three years. They recruited D. James Goodwin to produce, returning to the same role he held for their celebrated 2022 record, Dripfield. Through its 14 tracks, Everything Must Go takes listeners through many moments and chapters of Goose’s creative journey so far.

“As we were experiencing a significant change in the lives of the band, as well as reflecting on the multitude of fast past changes unfolding around all of us constantly, the title continued to take on many layers of meaning throughout the process,” explains Mitarotonda. “The idea was to throw everything at this project. To wipe the slate clean.”

Goose will be on the road supporting Everything Must Go through the summer, with headlining dates and festival appearances scheduled throughout the U.S. You can find the band’s complete touring schedule, along with ticketing information, by visiting Goose’s official website.
