One of modern country music’s most stellar singer-songwriters is back with a brand new record at the ready. On August 29, Margo Price will release her fifth studio album, Hard Headed Woman, via Loma Vista Recordings.
The 12-track LP, crafted with longtime producer Matt Ross-Spang inside Nashville’s RCA Studio A, includes collaborations with fellow advocate songsmiths Tyler Childers and Jesse Welles. Known for her unfiltered lyrical storytelling that balances emotional honesty with unapologetic confidence, Price’s rare sense of artistry only seems to get better and more authentic with time.

Price penned the record’s punchy lead single, “Don’t Let the Bastards Get You Down” with her husband and stellar musician Jeremy Ivey and two of the most impactful singer-songwriters in history; Kris Kristofferson and Rodney Crowell.
The track takes its name from the powerful words Kristofferson whispered to Sinéad O’Connor when she was booed on stage during a Bob Dylan tribute concert. That powerful declaration inspired O’Connor to continue her performance despite the crowd’s backlash, which spawned from her headline-making protest against the Catholic Church’s handling of sexual abuse cases.
Now, nearly a year after Kristofferson’s death at age 88, Price is keeping the spirit of outlaw country alive and well by continuing to stand up for what she believes without apologies.
“I always hope to do like Johnny Cash did, which is speak up for the common man and woman,” Price shares. “But there have been so many threats and anger and vitriol over the years when I am only coming from a place of love. So I made the decision to rebuild everything from the ground up. I hope this album inspires people to be fearless and take chances and just be unabashedly themselves, in a culture that tries as hard as it can to beat us into all being the same.”
