Chris Stapleton heads to the desert landscapes of Marfa, Texas, in his new action-packed music video for “White Horse.” Accomplished actor Josh Brolin, Mae McKagan, and Tommy Martinez star in the cinematic short film, which also includes appearances from Stapleton and his talented wife and musical collaborator, Morgane.
The captivating visual accompaniment to Stapleton’s standout track from his 2023 album, Higher, was produced by Strange Arcade and directed by Running Bear Films.
“Listening to ‘White Horse’ over and over again, we visualized a couple on the run and wanted to add some complexity with the parental sheriff relationship between Mae and Josh’s characters,” Stephen Kinigopoulos and Alexa King Stone of Running Bear Films share in a statement. “What was just going to be an action-packed love story, also became a story about letting go and trust.”
The music video’s arrival is the latest musical release since “Bad as I Used to Be,” Stapleton’s contribution to film soundtrack F1 the Album, dropped in May. He’s nominated in three categories, including Entertainer of the Year, at this year’s CMA Awards, which will be held in Nashville on Nov. 19. He’ll spend much of early next year out on the road, with multiple sold-out headlining U.S. dates scheduled through January and February.
